Work With The Grown-Up Gap Year

What makes me a Grown-Up Gap Year expert?

So, why should you work with The Grown-Up Gap Year? The short answer is, I’ve been there and done it! Taking a gap year is no longer just for college and university graduates. Every year thousands of people make the decision to take a career break or a sabbatical to go travelling.

In 2011, at the age of 29, I set off on my 30b430 trip, which I dubbed my “grown-up” gap year. I travelled solo through nine countries and had an amazing time. I also discovered that travelling when you’re a bit older brings with it so many benefits.

When I returned home so many people asked me how I had done my trip that I decided to set up this blog. Its main aim is to help to answer some of the practical questions about planning a career break or sabbatical.

However, I also understand that not everyone is in a position to quit their job or take a sabbatical, so I am also passionate about promoting microadventures and weekend breaks.

Nowadays I often travel with my husband Mr A and our toddler, the little adventurer. We love staying in quirky places and are always seeking out unusual stays in both the UK and around the world.

Media Interviews

I have been interviewed as a Grown-Up Gap Year expert for National Geographic, The Daily Mail, Huffington Post, Woman and Home, The Guardian and Sky News.

Press trips

I have worked with Kingfisher Bay Resort on Fraser IslandTusa Dive in Cairns and Tourism Tropical North Queensland.

As a journalist I have been on press trips to Kerala with Mahindra Homestays and Cyprus with Visit Cyprus.

I was also selected as an International Reporting Project fellow and travelled to Zambia to report on global health issues, including HIV, TB and malaria.
